Liz Dale is a Lecturer in Indigenous Health at the University of Wollongong’s School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences. As a Worimi Woman and practicing Clinical Psychologist, she specializes in integrating Indigenous knowledge with clinical psychology to address health disparities. Her roles include coordinating the Masters of Indigenous Health program and advocating for culturally responsive healthcare.
Dr. Dale holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wollongong (2017–2021). Her research focuses on trauma, addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, eating disorders), and intergenerational trauma, with a commitment to community-driven solutions. She has pioneered culturally adapted interventions like the Aboriginal-specific SMART Recovery program.
Her work spans 18 years in clinical and non-government sectors, addressing youth/adult homelessness, mental health, and substance use. Funding includes grants from Healthway, NHMRC, and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation to evaluate interventions and improve Aboriginal health outcomes.
Dr. Dale collaborates with Aboriginal communities, clinicians, and researchers to co-create health resources and policies. She also serves as a peer reviewer for NHMRC and actively participates in national/international conferences.
