Professor Kate Conigrave is a Conjoint Professor in Addiction Medicine at the University of Sydney's Central Clinical School, based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Her work integrates clinical practice, research, and teaching focused on alcohol, drug, and tobacco-related health issues, with a strong emphasis on Indigenous communities. She has held leadership roles, including joint head of the Centre of Research Excellence in Indigenous Health and Alcohol, and chaired the NHMRC Working Group revising Australia's 2020 alcohol consumption guidelines.
Education and Research Interests: Her research focuses on improving access to early detection and healthcare for substance use disorders, particularly through partnerships with Aboriginal communities. She has co-authored key texts such as Addiction Medicine (Oxford University Press) and the Handbook of Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Work.
Publications and Awards: Professor Conigrave has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with recent work on Indigenous health, alcohol policy, and digital health interventions. She received the Senior Scientist Award (2007) and Mentor Award (2019) from the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs, and her team won awards for the 'A Clinic' alcohol detoxification program (2014).
