Lisette Blom serves as a Lecturer at Leiden University of Applied Sciences, where she has taught since 2002—initially in Management and Business, later transitioning to Social Work. Since 2020, she has co-developed the Learning Community for social work students and trainee general practitioners at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) under the SI research group.
Her educational foundation includes higher professional education (HBO-V) in nursing and a degree in Social and Cultural Sciences from VU Amsterdam. Prior academic roles were preceded by international nursing experience in Karachi's children's homes, psychiatric/community nursing in Haarlem, and banking leadership positions at VSB Bank and Rabobank.
Her research integrates social work with civic engagement and entrepreneurial methodologies, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections between healthcare institutions and community services. This stems from her hands-on background in representing social/healthcare interests across diverse sectors.
As a qualified lead auditor and secretary, she has driven quality assurance initiatives for knowledge centers, particularly those serving socially oriented organizations. Her current LUMC collaboration focuses on synergizing social work education with medical training through structured student-practitioner partnerships.
