Lisbeth Brittain Carter is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Meredith College since 1994, where she directs the Meredith Opera Theater. She also taught at UNC Chapel Hill, Elon University, and the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. Her expertise spans voice performance, pedagogy, and German song interpretation. She holds a B.M. in Voice/Performance from The Boston Conservatory of Music and an M.M. in Performance and Pedagogy from Meredith College.
Her career includes over 40 operatic roles across Europe, notably as a lyric soubrette at theaters like Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and Dortmund Opera. She performed in 'CATS' in Hamburg and pioneered musical theater training at Hamburg's Stella Academy. Her students have excelled in European operas and musicals.
Ms. Carter is a Metropolitan Opera Regional Winner (1972) and recipient of a Metropolitan Opera Scholarship. She has taught in Hamburg, Vienna, and Paris, emphasizing vocal techniques and stage performance. Her work at AIMS focuses on German Lieder interpretation.
