Lisa Williams

Dr. Lisa Williams is Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Manchester and Director of Methods@Manchester. Her research examines drug use trajectories across the life course using innovative methodologies including visual ethnography.

Key research areas include:

• Longitudinal patterns of recreational drug use from adolescence to adulthood
• Synthetic cannabinoid use among prison and homeless populations
• Cultural persistence in rave communities among aging participants
• Critical discourse analysis of substance enhancement narratives

She co-founded Drugs: North West research network and employs creative qualitative methods in her work on substance use normalization and policy responses.
