Dr. Landon Kuester is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Manchester. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, an MSc from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA from Brown University. His research focuses on prisoner health, transcultural policing, and substance use dynamics within carceral systems.
Dr. Kuester's work examines how marginalized populations navigate institutional structures, with emphasis on agency negotiation in restrictive environments. His 2021 book explores HIV management in US prisons, analyzing rights advocacy and resource allocation strategies among incarcerated individuals. Research methodologies combine ethnographic approaches with policy analysis across transnational contexts.
As Creative Section Editor of the Journal of Organizational Ethnography and Expert Advisor to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, he contributes to policy frameworks addressing health inequities in justice systems.
