Lisa Williams

Dr. Lisa Williams is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Animal and Agriculture at Hartpury University, specializing in zoonotic diseases, particularly Campylobacter spp. in poultry and livestock. She holds a BSc from BathSpa University College, an MSc from the University of Bristol in Meat Science, and a PhD in Microbiology (2010) focusing on Campylobacter detection methods. Prior to academia, she worked at the Health Protection Agency and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Bristol and Swansea University before joining Hartpury in 2020.

Her research emphasizes host-pathogen interactions, dietary interventions for Campylobacter control, and gut health in poultry. She teaches modules on Pathology, Microbiology, and Epidemiology and oversees the BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science and Veterinary Bioscience programs. Williams has supervised multiple graduate students and currently mentors two PhD candidates.

Her publications span Campylobacter infection dynamics, avian immunology, and livestock management practices. Professional roles include Associate Editor for Avian Pathology and membership in the Microbiology Society. She actively collaborates internationally, co-organizing CampyUK Goes Global (2021) and serving as an external PhD examiner at leading institutions.
