Dr. Lisa V. Adams is a Professor of Medicine, Community and Family Medicine, and Epidemiology at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Dean for Global Health, Director of the Center for Global Health Equity, and Director of Global Initiatives in the Office of the Provost. Her work focuses on global health equity, tuberculosis care, and decolonizing global health partnerships. Dr. Adams holds an MD from Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine (1990).
Her research emphasizes pediatric tuberculosis, TB/HIV co-infection, and optimizing healthcare delivery in low-resource settings. She leads major initiatives like the Dartmouth-Muhimbili HIV-TB Training Program and the Rwandan Human Resources for Health Program. Notable contributions include developing equitable global health partnerships and advocating for health equity through frameworks like 'last mile research.'
Dr. Adams has authored over 45 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work addressing TB diagnostics in children, HIV care retention in Tanzania, and global vaccination impacts on mortality. She teaches courses on global health equity and mentors students across medical, public health, and undergraduate programs.
Her leadership roles include directing interdisciplinary global health programs and collaborating with Ministries of Health worldwide. She received NIH funding for HIV-TB training and pioneered digital health interventions like SMS-based helmet use reminders in Tanzania. Her 2019 TEDx talk critiques colonial frameworks in global health partnerships.
