Lisa Chen

Lisa Chen is a Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), specializing in the programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB). She serves as Principal Investigator and Medical Director of the CDC-funded Curry International Tuberculosis Center (CITC), focused on creating culturally appropriate training programs and technical assistance for TB control globally. Additionally, she is Senior Director of the MECOR program under the American Thoracic Society, enhancing research capacity in low- and middle-income countries through epidemiological and clinical training.

Her work emphasizes global health equity, contributing to U.S. national drug-resistant TB guidelines and collaborating with high-burden countries like Tanzania, Uganda, and Indonesia. She co-edited the textbook Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Survival Guide for Clinicians and leads initiatives such as the SMART4TB Capacity Strengthening project. She also chairs the World TB Day Oversight Planning Committee and serves on STOP-TB USA's Coordinating Board.
