Lisa Tan is Professor of Art at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, specializing in installation and text. She teaches in the Master's program and co-leads a PhD course on Artistic Practice with Magnus Bärtås. Born in Syracuse, NY, and raised in El Paso, Texas, she holds an MFA from the University of Southern California and a practice-based PhD from HDK-Valand at the University of Gothenburg.
Her research explores the relationship between image and language in forming individual subjectivity, examining how encounters and intimacy reshape personal identity. She investigates intersections between the nervous system and interior life, using art to navigate uncertainty and sensory experiences. Her multidisciplinary practice includes video, photography, text, and site-specific installations.
Recent exhibitions include 'Dodge and/or Burn' at Accelerator Stockholm, exploring sensory overload through filmed fireworks from aircraft, and 'herein between spaces' at Marabouparken, examining text-image ambiguities. She participated in the 11th Göteborg Biennial and osloBIENNALEN First Edition.
