Lisa Silmser is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bethel University, affiliated with the MA in Teaching, MA in Special Education, and M.A. in K-12 Education programs. She has been at Bethel since 2002 and serves as the program director for the MA in K-12 Education. Her expertise spans K-12 instructional practices, special education, language arts literacy, and online education.
Education: B.A. (1992), M.Ed. (1996), and Ed.D. (2015) from Bethel University. She holds teaching licenses in Secondary Language Arts (7-12), Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (K-12), Specific Learning Disabilities (K-12), and Communication Arts and Literature (5-12).
Research interests include differentiation strategies, special education interventions, and online instructional methodologies. She actively contributes to professional organizations such as the Higher Education Literacy Partnership and MN Reading League.
Teaching portfolio includes courses like Methods of Effective Instruction, Foundations of Education, and Special Education Planning and Programming. Past courses include practicum sessions and student teaching seminars.
