Lisa Shen

Lisa Shen, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Dermatology and Pediatrics at Boston University’s Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She serves as Residency Program Director for the BU Dermatology Residency Program. Her expertise lies in pediatric dermatology, with a focus on behavioral health intersections in skin disease and hidradenitis suppurativa. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with an MD.

Research: Dr. Shen’s work spans pediatric skin disorders, including atopic dermatitis, acanthosis nigricans, and ethnic skin conditions. She has published over 16 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to clinical studies on topical therapies and pediatric skin disease management. Her research also addresses underrepresented topics like melanonychia striata in children and lipoblastoma presentations.

Grants & Awards: She leads a Pfizer-funded Phase 2a trial (2020-2024) evaluating novel therapies for dermatologic conditions. Her accolades include the 2024 Peter E. Pochi Clinical Scholar Award, multiple departmental excellence awards, and recognition for clinical service and humanism in medicine.

Professional Service: As residency director, she mentors future dermatologists while maintaining an active clinical practice in pediatric dermatology.
