Lisa Parker is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh, holding concurrent roles as the Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote Professor of Bioethics and Director of the Center for Bioethics & Health Law. She leads interdisciplinary initiatives such as the Master of Arts in Bioethics program (Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences) and the Science, Ethics, and Society Initiative. Her academic affiliations span multiple schools, including the School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Parker is also a fellow of the Center for Philosophy of Science and contributes to the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program.
Her research focuses on ethical dimensions of genetic research, mental health studies, privacy protection, and the application of feminist frameworks to bioethics. Notable collaborations include international research ethics training programs in China and India through Fogarty International Center grants, and leadership roles in national advisory councils like the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research. Dr. Parker’s work emphasizes the societal implications of scientific advancements, particularly in precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, and AI-driven healthcare.
Education includes a PhD, MA, and BA from the University of Pittsburgh and Hillsdale College, respectively. She advises on biobanking and genomic sequencing projects and serves on expert panels like the eMERGE Network’s Scientific Panel.
