Professor Michael Parker is Director of the Ethox Centre and Professor of Bioethics at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Population Health. He leads the Wellcome Discovery Research Platform for Transformative Inclusivity in Ethics and Humanities (ANTITHESES) and serves as Chair of the Ethics Advisory Board for "Our Future Health" and Cancer Research UK's Research Data Advisory Board.
- Established the Global Health Bioethics Network (2012) across Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam
- Co-founder of the Oxford-Johns Hopkins Global Infectious Disease Ethics Collaboratory (GLIDE) (2020)
- Member of WHO's Expert Group on ethics and governance of infectious disease outbreaks
His research focuses on ethical dimensions of genomics, pandemic response, and data science, with particular emphasis on moral disagreement and value pluralism. Current projects involve collaborations with the Pandemic Sciences Institute, MalariaGEN, Big Data Institute, UK Biobank, and 100,000 Genomes Project.
