Lisa M. Rabin is an Associate Professor of Spanish at George Mason University, where she serves as the Interim Director of Cultural Studies. Her scholarship bridges film history, media studies, and cultural theory, with a focus on the educational and political dimensions of cinema.

Lisa’s research examines the intersection of 16mm film technology, Cold War-era academic disciplines, and the pedagogical use of cinema in US classrooms. She has published extensively on the Human Relations Film Series, Julien Bryan’s educational shorts, and the role of film in shaping Ethnic and Area Studies curricula. Her upcoming work, 16mm and the Cold War University, further explores these themes.
Lisa teaches courses in Latin American film, mass media, and Spanish language and cultural studies. Her methodological approach integrates archival research, reception history, and critical pedagogy.
