Lisa Lenarz is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), where she teaches courses in Art Education and oversees field experiences. She holds a B.S. in Art Education (UWL, 2007) and an M.F.A. in Studio Art (Vermont College of Fine Arts, 2018). Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to art education, focusing on culturally responsive teaching and social justice pedagogy. Lenarz has taught K-12 art in public schools and served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Viterbo University.
She actively contributes to professional organizations, including roles as Co-Interim President Elect of the Wisconsin Art Education Association (WAEA) and Board Member of the Pump House Regional Arts Center. Lenarz has received notable awards such as the 2022 Eagle Teaching Excellence Award and the 2023 Preservation Alliance Heritage Award for her collaborative 'Hear, Here Project,' which bridges art education and community preservation.
Her publications explore marginalized student engagement and innovative teaching methods, while her artistic practice has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Lenarz advocates for inclusive education through initiatives like the 'Great Ideas for Teaching Students (GIFTS)' workshop series and curriculum development projects that integrate AI tools for teaching innovation.
