Dr. Lisa Leffert is the Nicholas Greene Professor of Anesthesiology and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine, serving as Chief of Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital. She specializes in obstetric anesthesia and managing complex comorbidities in pregnant patients, particularly neurological disorders and substance use disorders. Dr. Leffert holds an MD from Harvard Medical School (1991) and is board-certified in Anesthesiology. Her research focuses on maternal health challenges, with notable contributions to evidence-based guidelines for regional anesthesia in antithrombotic patients and postdural puncture headache management. She served as President of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia & Perinatology (SOAP), driving governance reforms to enhance diversity and inter-society collaboration.
