Lisa Kidd is a Professor of Nursing at the School of Health and Life Sciences, Glasgow Caledonian University. She specializes in stroke care, particularly the implementation of supported self-management strategies. Her work includes leading projects like the IMPETUS study, which evaluates mechanisms for effective self-management in community stroke care. She has held leadership roles including incoming Chair of the UK Stroke Forum and membership in national health initiatives like the Scottish Government’s Stroke Improvement Plan. Her research contributes to clinical guidelines and policy, such as the Progressive Stroke Pathway. She also advises on self-management grants through The Alliance, Scotland.
Research focuses on post-stroke rehabilitation, treatment burden, and adapting interventions across cultural contexts. Notable projects include developing the PETS-stroke measure for treatment burden assessment and exploring digital peer-supported programs for mental and sexual wellbeing post-stroke. She supervises doctoral projects on visual impairment in stroke survivors and global stroke care delivery.
Lisa has contributed to national training resources for stroke practitioners and sits on the National Clinical Guidelines for Stroke development group.
