Lisa A. Keller is an Associate Professor in the Research, Educational Measurement, and Psychometrics (REMP) concentration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst's College of Education. She also serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Educational Assessment and Program Coordinator for the REMP program. Her roles include teaching statistics courses, advising graduate students, and directing the Statistical Consulting Center. Dr. Keller holds a B.S. in Mathematics from St. Michael's College (1993) and an Ed.D. in Psychometrics from UMass Amherst (2002).
Her research focuses on equating methodology, Bayesian analysis, and Item Response Theory (IRT), with notable contributions to statistical consulting for educational institutions and organizations like the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. She has led projects evaluating educational reforms, designing assessment frameworks, and analyzing testing equivalency. Dr. Keller actively collaborates with professional organizations such as the Psychometric Society and National Council on Measurement in Education.
Her recent work emphasizes detecting aberrant test responses using machine learning (e.g., Extended Isolation Forests) and refining cut score methodologies through ROC analysis. She has also explored the sustainability of IRT scaling methods across mixed-format tests and the impact of repeater effects in equating scenarios.
Dr. Keller’s professional service includes chairing the National Council on Measurement in Education's Graduate Student Issues Committee (2001–2002) and peer reviewing for journals like Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics. Her technical contributions include software development for psychometric analyses and evaluations of high-stakes testing programs.
