Lisa Jeffrey is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto, with appointments at both the St. George campus (Bahen Centre, Room 6211) and the Scarborough campus (IC474). She holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC).
Her research focuses on Symplectic Geometry and Geometric Applications of Quantum Field Theory. Specifically, she uses techniques from pure mathematics to prove results obtained by theoretical physicists using quantum field theory methods. Her work includes studying moduli spaces of holomorphic vector bundles on Riemann surfaces, Hamiltonian group actions, toric manifolds, and nonabelian localization.
Professor Jeffrey has made significant contributions through her collaborations with prominent mathematicians including Frances Kirwan, Jonathan Weitsman, Megumi Harada, and others. Her research provides mathematically rigorous proofs of results conjectured by physicists like Edward Witten.
