Freid Tong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto. He holds a PhD from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining the faculty, Tong completed postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard University and the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute in Berkeley, California.
His research focuses on complex geometry and nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), with particular interest in studying the geometry of complex manifolds through solutions of PDEs on them. Tong aims to develop robust analytic tools for analyzing these PDEs to obtain new geometric information.
His areas of interest include:
