Lisa Hussey is Associate Professor and Director of the Self-directed Concentration at Simmons University's School of Library and Information Science. Awarded the 2022 ALISE Excellence in Teaching Award, her research examines diversity in librarianship, professional identity formation, and international library practices. She developed courses on management, information ethics, and global librarianship.
Her primary research areas include:
- Equity, diversity and inclusion in library management
- Mentoring versus coaching in professional development
- International comparative librarianship frameworks
- Crisis management in library services
Publications from 2017-2024 address allyship development, pandemic response strategies, and cross-cultural library practices. Her work emphasizes practical frameworks for ethical leadership and global knowledge exchange.
She leads international programs in South Korea and Rwanda and integrates global perspectives into curriculum design. Her research receives support through professional organization grants.
