معرفی
Lisa Hibbard is a faculty member at Spelman College since 1985, serving as Director of the Teaching Resources and Research Center (TRRC). Her work bridges biophysical chemistry and chemical education, focusing on protein structure analysis and pedagogical innovation.
Education:
- Ph.D., Georgia Institute of Technology
- B.S., Georgia Institute of Technology
Research Interests: Dr. Hibbard investigates structural changes in lens proteins like alpha- and beta-crystallin under UV radiation and electrolyte exposure using UV-Visible absorbance, fluorescence, and circular dichroism spectroscopy. She also explores chemical education through POGIL techniques, e-portfolios, and flipped classrooms to enhance student learning.
Scientific Awards:
- Spelman College Presidential Award for Excellence in Service (2010)
- Georgia Academy of Science Fellow (2006)
- QEM Excellence in Teaching Award (2002)
- Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (2000)
- Georgia Tech Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni (1995)
- Spelman Presidential Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching (1993)
Dr. Hibbard mentors students in biophysical research and educational innovation, collaborating on studies involving alpha-crystallin configuration and teaching methodologies. Her work with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Faculty Resource Network highlights her commitment to inclusive excellence in STEM education.
