Associate Professor Lisa Hartley is an academic specializing in human rights education and social justice at Curtin University. She holds a dual affiliation with the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry and the Faculty of Humanities. As Co-Director of the Centre for Human Rights Education, her work bridges theory and practice through participatory research with refugee and migrant communities. Her research focuses on refugee resettlement, equity in education, and reducing prejudice against marginalized groups.
Notable contributions include co-authoring the 2022 book *Activating Cultural and Social Change: The Pedagogies of Human Rights* and leading research on barriers to higher education for asylum seekers. She has secured grants totaling over $350,000 for projects addressing health disparities and educational equity. Her advocacy work has been recognized by the ARC for high socioeconomic impact.
