Lisa Gilbert is a Lecturer in Education and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Washington University, affiliated with the Department of Education. She holds a PhD from Saint Louis University and an MA from McGill University. Her expertise spans the philosophy of education, social studies curriculum design, museum education, and the intersection of formal and informal educational systems.
Dr. Gilbert's research explores how historical narratives are presented in non-traditional spaces like museums and digital media. She has published in journals such as Theory & Research in Social Education and Curator: The Museum Journal. Her work bridges pedagogical practices across disciplines, including STEM, the arts, and world languages.
She has received a Teaching Innovation Grant for integrating 'Literacies for Life and Career' into her curriculum. Her service roles include membership on the University Assessment Committee and leadership in the Mindfulness Science and Practice cluster. She has over a decade of experience mentoring student teachers and designing professional development programs for schools and cultural institutions.
