Professor Lisa D. Pfefferle is the C. Baldwin Sawyer Professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at Yale University's School of Engineering & Applied Science. Her research focuses on chemical reaction engineering, combustion kinetics, biofuels development, soot formation mechanisms, and applications of nanomaterials in energy and biomedical fields. She leads the Pfefferle Lab, which operates in facilities including Mason 321, 310, and 225.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Key research areas include designing sustainable fuels with low sooting tendencies, synthesizing carbon nanotubes and other nanomaterials, and exploring catalytic processes for energy applications. Recent projects involve investigating lactones as sustainable fuels and strain effects on 2D materials' properties.
