Lisa D Schrenk is Professor of Architectural History at the University of Arizona's College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA), where she has been a faculty member since 2012. A leading authority on international expositions and Frank Lloyd Wright's early work, she integrates global fieldwork into her scholarship and teaching.
Her educational background includes:
- B.A. in studio art and geography from Macalester College
- Master’s Degree in Architectural History from the University of Virginia
- Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin
Dr. Schrenk's research examines architectural history through international expositions, Frank Lloyd Wright studies, Art Deco, sustainable development, and global traditions across Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Her work connects historical analysis with contemporary issues like sacred spaces and urbanism, informed by extensive worldwide travel and Fulbright research in Brazil.
Her publications include two landmark books: 'Building a Century of Progress' (2007), analyzing Chicago's 1933-34 World's Fair and named an Outstanding Academic Title, and 'The Oak Park Studio of Frank Lloyd Wright' (2021), receiving a star review from Publishers Weekly. These works establish foundational scholarship on American architectural history and world's fairs.
