Her teaching emphasizes interdisciplinary inquiry, equity, and student agency.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent thematic trajectory: a critique of standardized education, advocacy for community-based learning, and the transformative power of love in pedagogy. Articles in Overland, Common Dreams, and Teachers College Record reflect her engagement with social justice, trauma, and systemic reform.
- American Association of University Women's award
- Educational leadership fellowships with New Leaders and Big Picture Learning
Lisa advises and mentors through her role as educator and through community leadership. She has secured recognition and support for her work through fellowships and awards. As founder of The Ed Factory and Board President of Kite’s Nest, she leads initiatives that connect youth, educators, and communities in liberatory learning. She also contributes to national and global efforts through advisory roles at NYU and MASS MoCA.
Her work is deeply rooted in community engagement, public scholarship, and the creation of spaces where young people can imagine, create, and lead outside traditional academic constraints.
