Dr. Lingguo Bu is a Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education, School of Education, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU). He conducts research on design-based learning environments that bridge STEM disciplines and teacher education.
Research Interests
Dr. Bu’s scholarly work centers on the creation and evaluation of innovative learning environments in STEM education. His investigations span:
- Mathematical Cognition: exploring how learners construct mathematical understanding.
- Model-Centered Learning & Instruction: designing curricula that leverage conceptual and computational models.
- Multimodal Modeling & Simulations: integrating visual, tactile, and digital modalities to deepen learning.
- Teacher Education: preparing pre-service and in-service educators to implement design-based pedagogies.
