Line Beate Tandsæther Mastad is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Agder (UiA), where she works in supervisor education and primary school teacher education. She coordinates school-based teacher educator training and has developed study programs in collaboration with the Department of Teacher Education, school management, and local authorities.
She holds a general education teacher qualification with specializations in music, special education, and leadership, and a master's degree in art and craft didactics with a focus on contemporary knitted art. As a member of Norwegian Craftsmen, she exhibits locally and nationally, integrating her artistic practice into aesthetic learning processes for pre-service teachers.
Her research focuses on teacher education, particularly the role of school-based educators, guidance pedagogy, and aesthetic learning processes. She investigates the use of Lesson Study in upper secondary schools and explores how co-creation and third-space collaborations enhance inclusive learning environments. Her work also addresses democratic Bildung through textile art and prejudice prevention in education.
Her recent publications examine school-based teacher training, professional learning communities, and the role of narrative and aesthetic processes in pedagogical development. She is actively involved in projects related to student diversity, curriculum innovation, and practice-based education.
