Lindsey Shomer is an Associate Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy at the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She holds a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from USC (2015), a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy (2014), and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from UCLA (2011). Her clinical and research expertise focuses on chronic pain management, fibromyalgia, post-concussion syndrome, and headache disorders, utilizing the Lifestyle Redesign® framework to address behavioral and lifestyle factors impacting health.
Her research emphasizes occupational therapy’s role in multidisciplinary care, including interventions for fibromyalgia, migraine, and concussion recovery. Notable studies include a 2022 retrospective cohort analysis demonstrating improved psychological well-being and functional outcomes in fibromyalgia patients through group-based Lifestyle Redesign® therapy. She has also pioneered programs at the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice, such as a 10-week Fibromyalgia Treatment and Support Group.
Dr. Shomer’s work spans academic publications, clinical practice, and program development in interdisciplinary healthcare settings. Her contributions highlight the importance of holistic, non-pharmacological approaches to chronic conditions, emphasizing patient self-management and functional recovery.
