Lindsay Lowe Worthington is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at The University of New Mexico. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (2010). Her research focuses on the structural evolution of Earth's crust using seismology, integrating seismic imaging with stratigraphic and geophysical modeling. Key areas include mountain building, climate-tectonic interactions, and landscape evolution in diverse tectonic settings.
Research tools include high-resolution seismic reflection data, refraction seismology, and complementary gravity/magnetic modeling. Current work involves NSF-funded projects on the Queen Charlotte fault and the Socorro Magma Body. She advises graduate students on fieldwork and data collection aboard research vessels like the R/V Langseth.
Worthington’s lab utilizes Paradigm software for subsurface imaging. Collaborative projects include international partnerships with USGS, University of Washington, and institutions in Canada and Japan. Her work addresses critical questions in continental rifting, subduction zone processes, and glacial-tectonic interactions.
