Dr. Lindsay Larios is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Concordia University and an MSW from McGill University. Her interdisciplinary research examines Canadian immigration policies through critical feminist and reproductive justice frameworks, focusing on precarious migration, healthcare access, and the intersection of citizenship with reproductive rights.
Her research explores how immigration status shapes reproductive experiences and healthcare access, particularly for pregnant migrants and medically uninsured populations. Current projects include studies on abortion access in Manitoba, perinatal care for uninsured migrants, and healthcare barriers for international students. Funded by SSHRC and Research Manitoba, her community-engaged work partners with organizations like the Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations.
Dr. Larios teaches courses including Social Welfare Policy Analysis, Social Justice and Human Rights, and Reproductive Justice Perspectives. She serves on the boards of the Women's Health Clinic and Healthcare for All Manitoba Coalition, and contributes to the Centre for Human Rights Research and Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
