Lindsay King is an Associate Professor of Physics and Faculty Advisor for Physics Majors at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Her research focuses on physical cosmology, extragalactic astrophysics, galaxy formation, gravitational lensing, and computational astrophysics. She has received significant funding including a $322,867 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant for her REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program in Theoretical and Experimental Physics, which emphasizes broadening participation among underrepresented groups in physics.
- Education:
- PhD - Physics (Astronomy & Astrophysics) - University of Manchester (1995)
- MA/MSc - Physics (Theoretical Physics & Astrophysics) - University of Cambridge & University of Manchester
Her work combines computational modeling with observational astrophysics, particularly in understanding large-scale structure formation and gravitational lensing phenomena. The NSF-funded REU program she directs provides hands-on research experiences for undergraduate students across diverse physics disciplines.
