Håkon Dahle is a Researcher at the University of Oslo's Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. His work focuses on cosmology, extragalactic astronomy, gravitational lensing, and galaxy cluster studies. He has been affiliated with the university since 2008 and has held leadership roles, including Managing Director for the Year of Astronomy 2009.
Education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii (2000) and studies at the University of Toronto (1995–97). His postdoctoral research spanned institutions like the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille and the Dark Cosmology Centre in Copenhagen.
Research interests include cosmological parameters, dark matter/energy, and gravitational lensing applications. His projects include leading the Norwegian participation in the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) through ESA's PRODEX program (2023–25) and contributions to the Sloan Giant Arcs Survey (SGAS) and COOL-LAMPS projects.
Publications span topics like lensing models, Hubble constant measurements, and galaxy evolution. Key collaborations involve the Euclid mission and the Chicago Optically Selected Lenses (COOL-LAMPS) surveys.
He has been involved in major observational efforts, including the Planck satellite's cluster surveys and XMM-Newton follow-ups. Current work emphasizes leveraging gravitational lensing to study high-redshift galaxies and cosmic structure formation.
