Dr Lindsay Hall is currently the Microbiome Research Leader at the Quadram Institute and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. She earned a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow in 2003 and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (University of Cambridge) in 2007.

Dr Hall's research focuses on the gut microbiota, its role in infant health, colonisation resistance, and its therapeutic modulation in diseases like Crohn's disease, biliary atresia, and cancer. Recent work explores microbiome safety, antimicrobial resistance, and probiotic applications in diverse populations.
Her peer-reviewed articles (2025) span microbiome genomics, infant disease mechanisms, and microbial strain analysis, reflecting interdisciplinary collaborations in gastroenterology, immunology, and cancer research. She has received the Wellcome Trust New Investigator Award (2013) and served on the Wellcome Trust Basic Science Fellowship Committee (2014–2019).
Dr Hall supervises 5 primary and 3 secondary PhD students and leads the Hall Lab (www.halllab.co.uk), which investigates microbiome dynamics in health and disease. Her work has been featured in BBC World Service, BBC Breakfast, and the Irish Times.
