معرفی
Emily Lees is a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Infection and Immunity at the University of Oxford and a Junior Research Fellow at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and an MBChB from the University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on understanding Salmonella interactions with human intestinal epithelium using organoid models, with particular emphasis on Typhoid disease mechanisms.
Education:
- PhD (Wellcome Clinical PhD Programme, University of Cambridge/Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute)
- MBChB (University of Sheffield)
Research Interests: Combining clinical paediatrics with laboratory-based research, Dr. Lees investigates bacterial pathogenesis in intestinal infections. Her work integrates stem cell technology with clinical insights to develop novel therapeutic strategies against enteric pathogens. Current projects leverage intestinal organoid models to study host-pathogen interactions in Salmonella infections.
Grants & Funding: Received Academy of Medical Sciences grant supporting her research into paediatric infectious disease mechanisms. Maintains active collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute.
Clinical & Academic Roles: Balances clinical training in paediatric immunology/infectious diseases with teaching responsibilities at Oxford Medical School. Appointed non-stipendiary Research Fellow at Fitzwilliam College (Cambridge, 2021-2024).
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Sanger Institute's infection biology team and leads interdisciplinary projects at Oxford's Department of Pediatrics.
