Linda Woodhead MBE is Distinguished Professor of Religion and Society at Lancaster University and Director of the Institute of Social Futures at Lancaster University. She also holds a Research Associate role at Stanford University's Center for the Study of Behavioral Sciences (2019-20). Her work focuses on religion’s evolving role in modern societies, including secularization trends, education policy, and post-millennial beliefs.
Her research interests include religion's impact on cultural shifts, the rise of 'no religion' in Britain and the USA, and the intersection of religion with politics and education. She co-founded the Westminster Faith Debates and directed the £12m Religion and Society research program (2007-12). Her recent studies explore Brexit’s effects on religious institutions and societal values.
Woodhead has authored influential books like Religions in the Modern World and The Spiritual Revolution.
