Linda Michael is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fine Art at Monash University. She holds affiliations with prominent institutions including Heide Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney), and Monash University Museum of Art. Her career spans over three decades in curatorial and editorial roles within contemporary art.
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing (Distinction) from RMIT University, receiving the Society of Editors Award and Publishing Management Award. Her expertise lies in curating major international exhibitions, including Australia’s representation at the Venice Biennale (2003, 2015) and leadership roles in the Adelaide Biennial of Contemporary Art.
Her research focuses on contemporary art curation, photography, and publishing. Notable exhibitions include Wrong Way Time (2015 Venice Biennale) and We Are Family (2003 Venice Biennale). She pioneered the Primavera exhibitions at Sydney’s MCA and curated impactful shows like 21st Century Modern (2006) and Louise Bourgeois and Australian Artists (2012).
