Dr. Linda Fleming is an Affiliate in the Humanist History Project at the University of Glasgow, Department of History. Her research focuses on historical pageants, social history, and gender studies, with a strong emphasis on Scottish contexts. She has contributed extensively to understanding historical memory through public performances and institutional histories. Notable works include studies on Arbroath Abbey Pageants and reports for the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry analyzing childcare institutions. Fleming also explores topics such as urban housing, women’s roles in Jewish communities, and wartime remembrance through pageants.
Her publications span academic articles, book chapters, and collaborative reports, often addressing intersections of culture, memory, and institutional practices. Key projects include analyzing high-rise social housing impacts on women and children in post-war Glasgow, and co-editing Scottish Women: A Documentary History, 1780–1914. Her work highlights interdisciplinary approaches to history, integrating cultural performance and social policy analysis.
