Linda Ellman is an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, based in Los Angeles. She specializes in teaching students about the evolving media ecosystem in Hollywood, leveraging her extensive industry connections in TV, film, advertising, and talent agencies. Her academic role focuses on bridging academic learning with professional industry practices.
Ellman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Boston University. With over 30 years of professional experience, she has served as an Emmy Award-winning producer, writer, director, and executive producer for major networks like NBC, Paramount, Lifetime, and E!. Notable credits include the Emmy-winning syndicated crime series Save Our Streets and the Oscar-nominated documentary On Native Soil. She also revitalized Hard Copy for Paramount, tripling its ratings.
Her research interests center on media industry dynamics, storytelling innovation, and the intersection of technology with creative content production. Current projects include developing the documentary Jock and a spy drama series. Ellman is a member of the Directors Guild, Writers Guild, and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
In teaching, she emphasizes resilience and problem-solving, guiding students through immersive Hollywood experiences with field trips, guest speakers, and industry collaborations. Her mentorship has launched careers in top network, cable, and news outlets.
