Liming Yao is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering and Built Environment, affiliated with the Social and Economic Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). She holds a PhD in housing economics and affordability, complemented by a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Real Estate Investment and Finance. Liming is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) since 2020.
Her teaching focuses on real estate economics, asset management, and research methodologies. Research interests include housing affordability, policy efficacy, rural migrants' housing challenges, and urban resilience. Current supervision involves two PhD projects on PPP in China and EV projects.
Recent publications explore Fintech’s impact on rural entrepreneurship, digital finance’s role in China’s common prosperity initiatives, and socio-economic integration for migrant entrepreneurs. Her work bridges urban policy, economic equity, and marginalized communities’ housing needs.
