Liliana Harding is an Associate Professor in Economics at the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Economics. She is a member of several research groups: Applied Econometrics and Finance, Environment, Resources and Conflict, Gender and Its Intersections, and the Migration Research Network. She is currently a visiting associate professor at Tohoku University, Japan. She supervises PhD students and contributes to international teaching initiatives.

Her research focuses on migration economics, gender economics, cultural economics, labor markets, and economic education. She explores feminist perspectives in economics, urban development, social inclusion, and student mobility. Her work often integrates interdisciplinary approaches and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to inequality, education, and sustainable cities.
Her recent publications analyze refugee migration trajectories, dynamic unemployment models, COIL in economics education, and the valuation of public art. These works reflect a strong trend toward interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research with global and local impact, particularly in migration, education innovation, and social economics.

Liliana supervises PhD and MSc students and has served as an external examiner and PhD supervisor on topics including resource curse, oil shocks, media economics, and transition economies. She is the study abroad coordinator at UEA’s School of Economics and contributes to the Economics Network through GTA training and educational resources. She has led projects funded by the ESRC and is active in public engagement through lectures, workshops, and podcasts.
She convenes the Migration Research Network at UEA and is affiliated with the Romanian Migration Network and the East European Centre for Research in Economics and Business. Her collaborative work spans the UK, Japan, Romania, and other European countries, reflecting a strong international research network.
