Lijing Jiang is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in the history of modern life sciences with a focus on East Asia and transnational scientific practices. His research examines how organisms like goldfish and zebrafish became model organisms in biology and biotechnology, challenging assumptions about their universality. He holds a PhD from Arizona State University's History of Science and Technology program.

Research Interests: Model organisms, environmental history, transnational science in East Asia, and the socio-cultural dimensions of scientific practices. His first book project, The Entangled Model Fish, explores the global history of fish genetics and aquaculture, while his second project, Fish Nations, addresses aquaculture technologies in Asia. He also revises his PhD dissertation on cell death and aging research.
Teaching: Courses in history of modern science, philosophy of biology, environmental history, and science and technology studies at Johns Hopkins and Colby College. Emphasizes global perspectives and critical thinking.
Future Work: A potential trade book titled A Goldfish’s History of Biology, blending East Asian biological histories with transnational narratives.
