Education
- PhD in Political Science, University of Tartu (2011–2016)
- BA (equivalent to MA) in Sociology, University of Tallinn (1998–2002)
Research Interests
Talving’s research centres on electoral behaviour, public opinion, Euroscepticism, and populism. Her work explores how economic conditions shape political support, the dynamics of EU attitudes, and the rise of populist politics across Europe. She employs comparative methodologies and large-scale survey data to illuminate the micro-foundations of macro-political phenomena.
Publication Trends
Across more than 25 peer-reviewed outputs, Talving has consistently interrogated the intersection between economic evaluations and political choice, the legitimacy of European integration, and the attitudinal bases of populist rebellion. Recent articles (2023–2024) extend this agenda to regional inequality, trade attitudes, and the politicisation of transnational rights under EU free-movement rules.
