Lieke Coenraad is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Law of Civil Procedure. She holds affiliations with A-LAB and the Amsterdam Centre for Family Law. Her ancillary roles include serving as a Judge-Deputy at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal and a lecturer at the SSR Training Institute of the Judicial Organization since 2010 and 2014, respectively.
Her research focuses on civil procedure law, family law, and legal policy, with a particular emphasis on non-adversarial dispute resolution methods in family and divorce cases. She explores topics like child custody, judicial practices, and policy implementation in family justice systems. Recent publications highlight her work on de-escalation strategies in child-related legal disputes and procedural reforms in family law.
Coenraad has supervised two PhD theses and is actively involved in academic activities, including editorial roles (e.g., Sdu Compendium Scheiden), organizing conferences (e.g., ISFL World Conference 2017), and membership in organizations like the Vereniging Familie en Jeugdrecht.
