Lidia Yanez Lagos is a PhD researcher in Sociology at the University of Manchester, supervised by Dr. Simin Fadaee and Dr. Nick Crossley. She is a Teaching Assistant and part of the OLES research center in Chile. Her work focuses on social movements in the global south, police repression, and the role of memory in resistance, particularly in the context of Chile’s 'Chile woke up' movement. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Chile and an MSc in Sociological Research from the University of Manchester, supported by ANID scholarships.
Her expertise includes intersectionality, feminist epistemologies, and the analysis of state violence. She has organized academic conferences such as the 'Thinking Chilean Futures' event and is a member of the European Sociological Association and the British International Studies Association.
