Liana J. Brent is an Assistant Professor of Classical and Medieval Studies at Bates College, specializing in Roman material culture and social history. She holds a Ph.D. in Classics (Classical Archaeology) from Cornell University (2019), and B.A./M.A. degrees from McMaster University (2010, 2012). Her research focuses on Roman burial practices, Latin inscriptions, and archaeological fieldwork in southeast Italy. Brent has held prestigious fellowships including the Rome Prize at the American Academy in Rome and a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
