Liam Rooney

Liam Rooney is a Research Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (University of Strathclyde). He holds a Fellowship in Bacteriology within the School of Infection & Immunity, focusing on advanced optical imaging methods applied to infection biology, antimicrobial resistance, and biofilm dynamics. His lab explores spatial dynamics of infections and develops open microscopy initiatives, including 3D-printed optical components and low-cost imaging tools.

He has contributed to projects such as 'Revolutionising Pharmacology Education' and 'A single-step laser fabrication approach for antimicrobial surfaces.' Rooney has authored over 47 research outputs, including peer-reviewed articles and datasets, and has been recognized with 15 scientific awards, including the Best Talk Prize at SENSR-BIS Conference 2023.

His research spans biofilm architecture, microbial interactions, and imaging innovations.
