Liam Markey is a Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, currently working on the project 'Ethical Digital Public Histories: Prisoners and the Legacy of Enslavement 1817-1970'. He completed his PhD in 2023, titled 'Mediating Militarism: Chronicling 100 Years of British ‘Military Victimhood’ During Periods of Remembrance, from Print to Digital 1918 – 2018', as part of an ESRC-funded CASE Studentship with the British Library. His research focuses on digital history, military victimhood, and historical remembrance, exploring how media representations have evolved from print to digital formats. Liam’s work intersects with sociology, public history, and the study of memory, particularly in contexts of enslavement and military narratives. He has contributed to understanding the legacy of historical injustices through innovative digital methodologies.
